ASL Nature Walk: The Miracle of Redwoods

Date:

Sun, 11/23/2014 - 01:30

Butano State Park is very lucky to be able to offer a nature walk with American Sign Language interpretation, helping those who are deaf and communicate in sign language to learn about the redwoods and become more engaged in the community. On this light 1-mile in-and-out walk, participants at the hike will learn the answers to questions such as: What keeps these trees alive? How do the redwoods interact with the community of plants and animals around them? This tour will permanently change the way you look at redwoods. After the first mile, if you haven't had enough, you can hike a mile and a half farther, where you can see an ancient, old-growth redwood tree.

Make sure to wear hardy walking shoes and take water and snacks on this walk, and binoculars if you have them! There are toilets and water access located near the park entrance. This opportunity is limited to 20 people, so reserve your spot through email at ano.volcoordinator@parks.ca.gov, or call (650) 879-2032

Butano State Park Visitor Center, 1500 Cloverdale Rd, Pescadero. 1:30-3:30pm. Free, but parking is $10.
