Big Stick Log Jam

Sat, 04/23/2016 (All day) to Sun, 04/24/2016 (All day)

The oldest "old boards, no cords" surfing event in Santa Cruz paddles back out to Pleasure Point this weekend with two days of longboard contests, paddleboard races and even, shockingly, some shortboard events for men and women. The Big Stick Surfing Association ladles on some extra aloha at this longboard convention, with proceeds from the surfboard raffle going to local charities.
This year, Logjam! has merged forces with a new charity partner SurfAid in a tag-team format surf competition. Every team of four that raises at least $5,000 will choose a prof surfer to join their team. The more money the team raise, the better chance they have at getting first pick! Funds will go to physicians and staff working in Indonesian island villages to promote sustainable health and infrastructure.

All in all it's a bunch of beachy family fun for a good cause. Find the schedule here.

Pleasure Point. Saturday and Sunday. Free.

Here's a sweet video of Wingnut riding his 9-foot, 20-pound Phil Edwards balsa board at 2013's Log Jam:
