Greg King Lecture at the Arboretum

Date:

Sun, 11/09/2014 - 04:00

The Smith River is a throwback. It is the only remaining wild, undammed river in California, and is one of the healthiest rivers in the world, boasting a thriving salmon and steelhead population. Journalist Greg King is passionate about its preservation, and on Nov. 9, the Arboretum is lucky enough to have him as a speaker. He will be discussing how nearby ornamental plant production are threatening the salmonid population (a population that scientists are depending on in order to have a diverse pool of salmon to hopefully reintroduce into other rivers). Greg King will also be presenting his stunning photography.

The Horticulture Building at the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum. Half a mile west up High Street from the UC Santa Cruz main entrance, at 1156 High Street. 4pm. Arboretum members $5, non-members $10, free for UCSC students.
