Could a week or three in Big Sur do your head good? Learn about Buddhism and share your talents during a stay at the beautiful and remote Tassajara camp of the San Francisco Zen Center. During Tassajara’s volunteer work period, you’ll help ready the camp for winter guests in exchange for a bed in a cabin, vegetarian meals, lively discussions with intriguing and spiritual people, and a daily meditation, if you like. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings while you garden, cook, do carpentry, repairs and general maintenance or cabin preparation. Work days are 6.5 hours/day, and the minimum stay is 7 days. Beds fill up quickly, so be prepared to bring sleeping gear if you're signing up less than two weeks before the September 14 -Sept. 26 work period.
