Feast at The Grange for A Cause

Date:

Sat, 05/23/2015 - 18:00

Enjoy a Cuban whole pig roast at the Grange to support food sovereignty in Haiti, Cuba and Mexico and help bring back Haiti's Creole pig. Wayne's Fine Swine will provide the roast pork, and you'll find pupusas, salsas, Cuban black beans and rice, Mexican wedding cookies, sangria and other fabulous comestibles. Proceeds go to Grassroots International's efforts to restore the Creole pig of Haiti, a hardy animal ideally suited to the island that was all but wiped out in the 1980s due to an extermination campaign to prevent the spread of African swine flu to the United States, according to Wikipedia.

Enjoy talks from local activists and a screening of the short film Small-Scale Farmers Cool the Planet (clip below).

Live Oak Grange, 1900 17th Ave, Santa Cruz. 6pm. $20-$30 donation. Email Tereza@thirdparadigm.org for info on how to get tickets.
