The Coastal Commission presents Annual Coastal Cleanup Day, that time of year when ocean-loving citizens unite to collect waste from our coasts. Save Our Shores hosts numerous cleanups, which you can register for here. Santa Cruz sites can be found here, and Monterey sites here. Volunteers in both counties collected nearly 17,000 pounds of garbage last year— that's heavier than an average bull orca! Don’t see any cleanups in your area? Start one!
