Oct. 31, 2013—In life, there are things we like and things we don't like. Me, I like bargains. I do not like being cold. So when the opportunity to scoop up warm stuff at a discount comes along, I'm all in.
Which is why I am doing little happy dances—at least in my mind—over the Nov. 3 Girls Gone Wilder ride and party at Bicycle Trip. After we pedal en masse to De Laveaga for two hours of riding, we'll head back to Bicycle Trip for social hour at the store, which will close early just for us (how princess does that make you feel?), allowing us to do important things such as a) tuck into a tasty lasagne dinner courtesy Whole Foods, Bicycle Trip and Hilltromper; b) enjoy libations supplied by our friends at Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing; c) shop for everything bikerly you ever wanted at 20 percent off.
That's right—Bicycle Trip is extending to us the grooviness of its once-annual Two-Day Sale, with everything in the store discounted 20 percent. (Even bikes, except those already on sale.) Water bottles, helmets, safety lights, dropper posts, socks, arm warmers, jerseys, waterproof jackets—all 20 percent off the marked price. And here's the thing: there's a bunch of stuff already on sale. On reconnaissance yesterday I saw a shirt for $6 and a jersey for $24. I saw a water-resistant jacket for $35. I saw merino jerseys marked down to $85 from $140. My brain whirred like some flying Victorian shopping contraption as I computed 20 percent off that.
I don't have to tell you what this means. It means you're riding warm this winter.
The good people at Bicycle Trip will spice up the evening's offerings with microworkshops on Getting To Know Your Bike (so you can stop using "thingie" to describe components) and Nutrition & Temperature Regulation (so you don't bonk and get hypothermia out there).
We'd love to have you. Please RSVP—so we can plan food and whatnot—to kristina@hilltromper.com or by calling 831.515.8256. And if you want to go but don't have a bike, Bicycle Trip rentals have you covered for as low as $40 ($75 for full suspension).
Bicycle Trip, 1001 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz. Sunday, Nov. 3; meet at 3pm, ride to De Laveaga, return for 5:30pm dinner and social hour. Free, but RSVP required.
