Celebrate community-driven effort with Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks to share the history of Castle Beach, a well-known earlier name for part of Seabright State Beach, with the installation of new bilingual interpretive signs and the replacement of the unique castle-shaped gate at the beach entrance.
Seabright State Beach used to be home to a castle, the Scholl-Mar Castle. The castle, built in 1929, welcomed visitors for almost 40 years, offering beach fun with everything from volleyball, umbrellas and a snack bar, to oceanview dining and hot saltwater baths.
