Beachkeepers Program Launch

Date:

Sat, 06/08/2013 - 10:00

Save Our Shores does a terrific job with its beach cleanups, but let's face it: beaches get dirty between cleanings. Today the marine protection nonprofit launches its Beachkeepers program—an initiative that encourages individual action in between organized cleanups. See some plastic bottles and cigarette butts on your favorite beach? Pick them up, then snap a photo or write about your experience on the new Beachkeepers Facebook page or blog. Record 10 cleanups and be eligible for a prize! Learn more today at Seacliff State Beach, where the Save Our Shores crew will introduce the concept (and tidy up the beach while they're at it). Seacliff State Beach, 201 State Park Dr., Aptos. 10am-noon. Free.
