The marvelous Hulda Hoover McLean, niece of President Hoover and a denizen of the family that lived in Waddell Valley until the state parks system acquired most of it as Rancho del Oso, says, "Waddell was paradise. Always has been." See it up close and personal on a day-long hike to Berry Creek Falls. This is mostly a flat walk, but it's a long one—7 miles each way—so bring good shoes, layers, lunch and water.
