A natural wonder, a conservation catalyst, and local landmark all rolled into one. The Big Basin Auto Tree is the feature of its own exhibit at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History. Previously famous as a place for people to drive their cars through, the Auto Tree has roots reaching way back to 1900 and the birth of the Sempervirens Club.
Running from January 16th through April 3rd, this exhibit will feature local historian and museum curator Frank Perry's personal collection of photographs and postcards, documenting the history of the Auto Tree. Along with this bit of local history, the exhibit will feature information on redwood forest ecology and conservation, a perfect learning opportunity for all ages.
