Darrow Feldstein and Haley Osborn of the Bird School Project are geniuses at making nature education fun for kids. They work in Santa Cruz area schools bringing the love of birds to middle school kids with an ingenious five-week program.
Today they will be running a group tour of bird hot spots all around the west side. On bikes!
Bike-birding is a phenomenon that, happily, is becoming popular internationally. Here's a chance for you (and the kids if you’ve got ‘em) to get some fresh air, learn some stuff, and see a bunch of pretty birds. You’ll need picnicking provisions, a bike and a lock. Bring your binoculars or borrow theirs.
Meet at the Delaware Street entrance to Natural Bridges State Park.
