The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is partnering up with the Santa Cruz Bird Club to make your Saturday mornings a whole lot better. And birdy-er, but that’s not a word. Birding experts from the SC Bird Club will be leading early-bird workshops along the San Lorenzo River — where over two hundred bird species have been spotted migrating or residing on the river. Bring your bird-loving families and friends of all ages for a morning of feathered awe and knowledge.
This Saturday morning will be led by Nick Levendosky. While his interest in birding came to him as a surprise after taking a natural history and ecology course in college years ago, he’s grown to be quite the birding whiz, finding the identification of birds to be an addicting game. After birding for years in Santa Cruz, he's appreciative of the hobby's ability to bring the birder closer to the surrounding natural community.
San Lorenzo River (specific location TBD). Free. Space is limited, so register here. Comfortable footwear and binoculars, if you have them, are suggested for the optimal birding experience.
