How do you start birding when everything looks like an LBB ("little brown bird") to you? You start with training wheels. A Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park naturalist leads this leisurely 1-mile, two-hour stroll around the campground at the park, with lots of stopping and peering through the glasses. Heavy rain cancels. Remember to BYOB (bring your own binoculars); along with water, a snack, and dress in layers.
Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, 101 Big Trees Loop, Felton (Hwy 9 entrance). Meet in front of the Mountain Parks Store. 8am. Free program, parking is $10.
