Save Our Shores and Bookshop Santa Cruz are joining forces in celebration of Dr. Wallace “J.” Nichols’ new book, Blue Mind. As a marine biologist and conservationist who is actually on the board of directors at SOS, his work has strong ties to our water-loving community. Blue Mind is an inspiring read that encourages readers to change their relationship with water, on a personal and worldwide level. At this book launch party, Dan Haifley (Executive Director of O’Neill Sea Odyssey), Fred Keeley (Santa Cruz County Treasurer) and Hilary Bryant (Santa Cruz City Councilmember) will read their favorite excerpts of the book alongside Nichols, who will talk about his current work and, of course, sign books. Treats from Ninkasi Brewing, Pizza My Heart and Shopper’s Corner will be provided (yum!) — just make sure to bring along your beverage container to this zero-waste event.
Bookshop Santa Cruz, 1520 Pacific Ave, Santa Cruz. 7pm. Free, but bring along some cash if you wish to purchase a book.
