Elkhorn Slough, one of California’s largest estuaries, is home to over 700 species: leopard sharks, sea otters, and salamanders, among others. Scientists hope to conserve that kind of diversity by assessing the effects of human activities. Some animals offer clues about the state of the environment, one such being the oyster. Join researcher Kerstin Wasson as she explains conservation research at the reserve and how oysters have helped the cause.
