Fall Wildflower Walk at Butano

Date:

Sun, 12/01/2013 - 11:00

A 3.5-hour walk through Butano State Park with docent Scott Peden highlights all that's in bloom—and there's plenty, even at this time of year. Some possibilities for this walk are fetid adder's tongue (a beautiful but foul-smelling member of the lily family), milk maids (also called toothwart; the small white petals resemble molars and eyeteeth) and coffeeberry flowers and berries. Also look for Madrone berries and the bright red fruit of the toyon, also called Hollybush (it's the origin of Hollywood's name). Peden is a font of knowledge and this walk is bound to be interesting.

Meet at Visitor Center at Butano State Park, 1500 Cloverdale, Pescadero. 11am. Free.
