First Friday at The Mission: Summer Series Kickoff

Date:

Fri, 05/02/2014 - 17:00

Summer Rhee-Pizano's whimsical Day of The Dead-inspired folk art comes like a breath of fresh air. And it's pretty darn anatomically correct, too—Rhee-Pizano's lifelong interest in the human body led to day jobs in the fields of physical therapy and acupuncture. This evening she helps inaugurate the Summer Series at the Santa Cruz Mission Adobe State Historic Park, a lineup of events at the picturesque old Mission Adobe overlooking downtown Santa Cruz.

Assisting Rhee-Pizano in this summer kickoff is Michelle Kiba, the "Ukulele Lady of Santa Cruz," an aloha-generating, ukulele-strumming, party-motivating machine. (See below for a video of Michelle and the Tiki Tones playing "E Mahina Hoku.")

Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks hosts this al fresco evening of art and music at the city's oldest building, the 190-year-old Mission Adobe.

Santa Cruz Mission Adobe State Historic Park, 144 School Ave, Santa Cruz. 5-8pm. Free.
