Ano Nuevo is well-known for its three-ton marine mammals, but this section of central California coast also offers a glimpse into the land’s history through its unique geographical features. Park docents will lead a geology-focused tour to Cove Beach. Explore active fault zones and ancient fossil beds along this 1-mile, 1-hour walk.
Bring a snack, water and good walking shoes. Rain cancels.
Ano Nuevo State Park. 1 New Years Creek Rd, Pescadero. Meet at 1pm in the Marine Education Center beside the main parking lot. Free, but day use parking is $10.
