Young Elephant Seals will be 'hauling out' onto the beaches at Año Nuevo. This season is the Fall Haul Out and if you're ready to see the younger version of 5,000 pound behemoths then pick up your visitor pass from the entrance station.
Visitor passes are handed out every day from the entrance station but only from 8:30am to 3:30 pm. All hikes are self-guided and require no reservations. It's a four to five mile hike and visitors are required to leave by 5pm. So, make sure you have plenty of time (about 3 hours) to make the hike and come back before 5pm.
