Date:

Sat, 01/09/2016 - 13:00

The redwood looms tall and quiet, a familiar neighbor in our Central Coast community. It is a tree that holds a lot more secrets than we think.
Join redwood expert Zane Moore as he unravels some redwood mysteries: does a redwood's height and/or access to light affect needle size? Can different parts of a tree communicate with each other? Do they compete with each other? Does a redwood have an adjustable center of gravity? What type of intelligence do redwoods and other plants possess without a brain? What does this intelligence look life? The amazing architecture behind a redwood tree is studied by mechanical engineers, physicists, plant morphologists. It perplexes them as it will perplex you. It's time to really get to know our neighbors!

Meet at the Old Lodge at Big Basin Redwoods State Park. 1pm. Free but parking is $10. Map to Big Basin Redwoods State Park.
