Make Acorns into Food Hike

Date:

Sat, 10/24/2015 - 10:00

Packed with protein, omega-3 fats and minerals, acorns qualify as a sustainable superfood. But how the heck do you eat them? Docent Steve Stolper will reveal those mysteries on this 5-hour walk to the Sempervirens Falls in Big Basin Redwoods State Park, where Ohlone mortars are found. You'll get to try the blanche-and-grind technique yourself, too! Bring at least a liter of water, good boots and a snack. Rain will move the festivities indoors. Meet at Park Headquarters.

Big Basin Redwoods State Park, 21600 Big Basin Way, Boulder Creek. 10am-3pm. Free, but parking is $10.
