Meeting: Three Night Guided Backpacking Trek

Date:

Wed, 08/05/2015 - 18:30

The mountains are calling and you must go. California State Park's are unveiling a new guided backpacking trip and you can be among the first to partake in this unique experience. If you've ever been hiking or backpacking and wanted to know more about the plants and animals you passed by, this is the trip for you. This backcountry experience will be led by a team of California State Park naturalists. Their knowledge of the land and the people that inhabited it will turn your backpacking trip into a wonderful educational experience.

This is a three night, four day trip that takes you from the mountains around Castle Rock State Park to the coast at Waddell Beach. The trip will run from August 21 to August 24th. This is a 30 mile long trek with a net elevation change of 3,000 feet. However, you will not be hiking more than 10 miles per day. Families are welcome to come, but children may not be under 13 years old and must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. You will be required to organize your own transportation for both drop off and pick up.

An important mandatory pre-meeting is on 6:30-8 pm, Wednesday, Aug. 5. Call 831-427-2288 for more information. The guided backpacking adventure has limited space and reservations are filled on a first come, first serve basis. To reserve a spot, call 831-429-1840 and ask for Cathryn.

Mandatory Meeting information:
Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park Visitor Center, 101 N Big Trees Park Rd, Felton. 6:30pm-8pm. $190.
