Mobile Ranger App Launch

Date:

Tue, 10/27/2015 - 18:30

Mobile Ranger, the phone app that gives you the historical and scientific low-down on all your favorite places, celebrates its new app format and tours tonight at the Museum of Art and History.

Wondering about that weird blowhole on the north end of West Cliff Drive? Check Mobile Ranger (hint: it's a wave engine). Curious about the historic lime kilns of UCSC or the reason the land north of town is shaped into terraces? Mobile Ranger can help you figure it out. You'll learn about geology, natural history and the human history via tours and articles written with a scientist's rigor (founder Julia Gaudinski has a doctorate in Earth Sciences). Tonight Mobile Ranger celebrates the release of a new app with many interesting tours by folks such as the Arts Council Santa Cruz County, Seymour Center, Santa Cruz Historic Preservation Commission, The Friends of the Cowell Limeworks Historic District, the Skyline Historical Society, the Salinas Historic Resources Board and the City of Capitola. There will be food, drink and history trivia games, along with talks by App Tour authors.

Museum of Art and History, 705 Front St. 6:30-8:30pm.
