Monterey Bay Aquarium Community Days

Date:

Wed, 12/10/2014 (All day)

It's hard to overstate the impact of the Monterey Bay Aquarium on ocean conservation. Thousands of schoolchildren have marched through its galleries, peering at the penguins and seahorses, marveling at the otters and mesmerized by the kelp forest. The Aquarium's focus on the sea otter, apex predator of the kelp forest, has bolstered the successful effort to bring that animal back from the brink of extinction, while the Seafood Watch program has empowered consumers to make ocean-friendly choices at the dinner table.

The Aquarium has introduced millions to the wonders of the ocean and put marine conservation uppermost in our minds. This week they celebrate 30 years with free admission to residents of Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties.

Monterey Bay Aquarium, 886 Cannery Row, Monterey. 10am-5pm daily. Free with proof of residence (license, student id, utility bill or Monterey/Salinas transit pass).
