Date:
This event has it all for the aspiring mushroom hunter and connoisseur. The day will begin with a lovely, mushroom-centric meal by local chef Bob Wynn (we've heard rumors of mushroom pasta primavera, mixed salad, and herbed focaccia. Yum!). This will be followed by an introduction to mushroom biology and ecology. Finally, the day will finish with a guided foray into the woods and a mushroom identification workshop. Mushroom hunters are advised to bring a trowel or similar shovel, field or utility knife, basket, paper or wax bags (not plastic), a pencil & paper for note taking, and field guide if you have one. Dress for success in layers and comfortable walking shoes appropriate for venturing into the woods.
This event is 16 years and older. Fee: $22. Register in advance at www.scparks.com or call 831-454-7941, Monday-Friday, 9am-1pm.
