Music of the Spheres at Lick Observatory: Night Three

Date:

Sat, 08/02/2014 - 20:30

Enjoy a refined evening of fine music, celestial bodies, and a 25,000-pound refractor telescope. The University of California’s Lick Observatory begins its summer concert series, which features live music, presentations from world-class astronomers, and if weather permits, gazing through the Nickel and Great Lick Refractor telescopes.

The third evening of the summer series will feature Golden Bough, a group rooted in the traditional music of the seven Celtic nations (Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, The Isle of Man, French Brittany and Spanish Galicia). The speaker will be Alex Filippenko of the University of California at Berkeley on "Frontiers of Astronomy, and the Crisis at Lick Observatory".

Saturday, August 2. Lick Observatory, summit of Mount Hamilton, off Interstate 680. 8:30pm. Tickets $40-$150, available here. Children must be 8 years or older to attend.
