April is the perfect time to visit Pinnacles National Park—it's not too hot yet and the wildflowers are going off. And from April 16 to 24, admission is free thanks to National Park Week. Fun fact: Pinnacles is one of three places set aside as national monuments in one week in January 1908 by President Teddy Roosevelt; the other two were Grand Canyon and Muir Woods.
Pinnacles is in the mountains south of Hollister. Find directions here. We recommend the East Entrance because Highway 25 is so darn pretty, especially this time of year.
