Native Plant & Backyard Habitat Festival

Date:

Sat, 09/28/2013 - 10:00

Bring the biodiversity buzz home and learn how to create a native plant bonanza in your own backyard. Join local horticultural luminary Richard Merrill at the Pajaro Valley Native Plant and Backyard Habitat Festival. Participants will learn about "Creating Backyard Habitats with Native Plants" from Merrill and will have access to demonstration habitats, greenhouse tours, free habitat consultations, and lots of native plants to buy. Additional workshops will discuss growing water-wise and animal friendly native plants from seed, sharpening garden tools (bring yours along), and building bird boxes. Food, music, an Eco Kid Zone, a live snake and raptor presentation, a wetlands wildlife photography exhibit, and raffle prizes will round out the eco-focused fun. Visit the Watsonville Wetlands Watch website for more information.
