What our blunt, spelling-challenged equine friend means to say is: this Thursday is Community Day at the Downtown New Leaf, and 5% of the day's sales will be donated to Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks. For parks lovers, that means there's no better time to re-stock the larder in the bulk foods section, load up on outrageously fresh organic veggies and ethically sourced meats and perhaps even select some delicious cheeeese than today. Friends makes the most of every dollar through an innovative public-private partnership that has gifted our area's state parks with docent and interpretive programs that are the envy of the state. Let's, ahem, pony up and show the love!
