Don't be that sad family on the rooftop this winter—or that other sad family without batteries, candles, water or Spaghettios. The City of Santa Cruz holds an open house-style El Nino preparedness workshop today. They'll be telling stories about the 1982 flood and talking about lessons learned, offering advice on preparing for the winter, selling emergency kits and running a sandbag-filling station. It could be the smartest four hours you spend this year.
