This weekend, the waters off West Cliff will be teaming with activity. Whether you're an avid surfer, or, unlike me, have heard of "wave-skiing", or just enjoy a walk on West Cliff, be sure to stop by Steamer Lane for these water spectacles!
March 18-20
Water sports enthusiasts flock to Santa Cruz from all around the world for the legendary waves that break off of the Steamer Lane point. Kayak surf, stand-up paddle board and wave-ski competitions fill up Friday and Saturday, making way for the finals on Sunday.
March 19-20
The Cowell Classic, Santa Cruz's annual surf competition, will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday. Long-waves and laid back vibes make this friendly surf competition one to please the masses.
March 19
A new addition to the water-based competition, the Paddle Board Race, will start at Cowells Beach and end at the harbor. Paddle boarders who are in for the long haul alternative course will head out to Steamer Lane before hitting the harbor and heading back to Cowells.
