Science on Tap at the Crepe Place

Date:

Wed, 01/27/2016 - 19:30

Come on over to The Crepe Place to hear Olena Morozova, from the UCSC Genomics Institute, talk about “Data-driven medicine: the California Kids Cancer Comparison Project". Standard cancer therapies fail to treat nearly 500 children each year. Finding a cure for a tumor requires individual tumor analysis. Considering the variety of known tumors, those that persist as "incurable" and how many still remain undiscovered, a cure for each is not easy to find. The University of California's medical centers have merged forces in employing genomic analysis to identify new, target therapies for tumors. Their goal is to cater to more young, cancer victims.
Onion up in layers for rain and/or cold and make reservations for outside on the patio of the Crepe Place where the talk will be held.
1134 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz, CA 95062. 7.30pm. Street parking.

Science On Tap happens monthly and is organized by WiSE, UCSC's Women in Science and Technology group. Stay in tuned for future events via their page.
