SDSF Flow Trail Grand Opening

Date:

Sat, 05/09/2015 - 13:00

Flow Trail (flō trāl, n.) - Crazy rad mountain bike ride, banked and angled with the utmost care so riders need not waste precious energy pedaling — they simply allow the mystical forces of physics to propel them forth as they "flow" down the trail.

If you've yet to test run the newly completed flow trail at Soquel Demonstration State Forest (a.k.a. Demo), today is the day. Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz will host the Grand Opening ceremony mid-afternoon, letting (and recommending that) revelers enjoy the trail on the way in and out. Non-bikers will be accommodated with carpools. But if you can ride it, you should. Otherwise you'll be wondering why everyone else's smile is so much bigger than yours.

A short ceremony celebrating the 4-mile trail, and the 530 volunteers who worked 6,300 hours to build it, will be followed by food, drink, live music, and general revelry.

RSVP ASAP or ELSE (i.e. the food & favors will be lacking). The party is at Badger Spring Picnic Area, near the bottom of the Sawpit Trail on Hihns Mill Road.

Soquel Demonstration State Forest, Badger Spring Picnic Area. 1pm-4pm. Free.
