Everybody loves a huge redwood, but what about the other giants of the plant kingdom? Henry Cowell Redwood State Park is home to four different ecosystems, and each has its big trees. On this hour-long ramble along the riparian (river) zone, you'll see stately sycamores, cool California bays, bodacious big-leaf maples, big box elders, colossal black cottonwoods and whopping white alders, and learn about what makes for a healthy river.
Meet at the Nature Center in the Day Use are of Henry Cowell located off Highway 9 in Felton at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, 101 North Big Trees Rd, Felton. 4:00pm. Free, but parking is $10.
