The hills are alive—and it's pretty noisy. Sing-along Sound of Music nights are more fun than you'd think, what with all the people dressed up like wild geese with the moon on their wings or girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes. Tonight's no exception. The 1965 film of the beloved Rogers and Hammerstein musical, at 174 minutes so long it requires an intermission, takes over the Rio Theatre tonight, and all are encouraged to sing their hearts out (subtitles are provided on the very small chance the lyrics have escaped the deep recesses of your temporal lobes) and dress up. Prizes will be awarded for best costume and best Julie Andrews lookalike. Bring on the flibbertigibbets!
Rio Theatre, 1205 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz. 7pm. $10.
