Snow Cave Camping & Winter Survival

Date:

Fri, 03/21/2014 - 17:00

A few years ago two skiers who got lost in Tahoe saved their own bacon by building a snow cave. Well, here's a chance to take a little adventure, see what you can handle and learn how not to freeze in snowy conditions. Adventure Out leads this three-day, two-night excursion to the Sierras, where experienced guides will teach you how to dig out a snow cave, and where you'll be paying close attention, because you'll be sleeping in it that night. You'll also learn important tips about cold weather survival and go on a couple of bitchen snow hikes. The first night is spent in the Sierra Club's comfy Claire Tappaan Lodge.

Claire Tappaan Lodge, 19990 Donner Pass Road, Norden, CA. March 21-23 or March 28-30. $320 (includes lodging for one night, camping fees, dinner Friday and Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday). Register at Adventure Out or email survival@adventureout.com.
