You know how, after a big huge barnburner of a party, you don't feel quite right until the mess is cleaned up? Well, today's Star Spangled Beach Cleanup, organized and hosted by Save Our Shores, is the ticket to that nice feeling of cleanliness following the rager that is July 4 on Santa Cruz beaches. Starting at 9am, SOS volunteers will be fanning out to beaches around the county to pick up trash, plastic and debris that would otherwise drift out to sea and pollute the ocean. Beaches on the agenda: Main & Cowell beaches, Seabright, Twin Lakes, Moran Lake, 4 Mile Beach, Seacliff and Rio Del Mar, Capitola City Beach, Panther Beach, Davenport Main Beach and West Cliff Drive (street cleanup).
