Great battles have defined us through the ages: Holyfield vs. Foreman, Godzilla vs. King Kong, Coke vs. Pepsi. Add to that proud roster Surfers vs. Mountain Bikers, for a battle royale is brewing to determine which Santa Cruz athletes rule supreme when it comes to eating lunch. The arena: a deli. The weaponry: the REO Speedwagon, the Abbott's Habit, the Pot Belly and more. And no, they won't be holding the mayo.
To celebrate turning 40, Erik's DeliCafe is throwing a little party with a flash mob, a pet-adoption event and this-here sandwich-eating contest. Party organizers are looking for four surfers and four mountain bikers to show up with empty stomachs, big mouths and sport-specific attire for the festive event.
