A Walk in The Past

Date:

Sat, 10/08/2016 - 12:00

You may be an avid hilltromper, but can you survive in the wild? Find out how the Ohlone people thrived in Big Basin Redwoods State Park. Docent Tim Batley will lead a 4-mile, 2.5-hour walk through the pristine forests of California’s oldest state park. Learn which plants the Ohlone used for tools, medicine, and food. (Pictured is miner's lettuce, a good source of vitamin C that was eaten raw by the natives in early spring and boiled later, when it got tougher.)

Big Basin Redwoods State Park is located off of Highway 9, in Boulder Creek, 9 miles down Big Basin Way. The tour begins at 10am at park headquarters.
