Ever wondered what resides in the sloughs of Watsonville? The answer is: plenty. Considered the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet, wetlands play an important role worldwide in water purification, flood control and shoreline stability. Watsonville Wetlands Watch leads tours of its restoration projects in Watsonville Slough, Struve Slough and West Struve Slough every second and fourth Saturday through September. Tours are free, but reserve a space with Kathy Fieberling at 831.345.1226 or kathy@watsonvillewetlandswatch.org by the Friday noon before the tour. Meet at Fitz Wetlands Educational Resource Center, at the top of the Pajaro Valley High School campus, 500 Harkins Slough Rd, Watsonville. 10am.
