The Ventana Chapter of the Sierra Club makes a beeline for the northern section of Wilder Ranch State Park and the Baldwin Loop. Eight miles of varied scenery leads up from Highway 1 across from Four Mile Beach and breaks for lunch at scenic Eucalyptus Grove before heading back. Total elevation gain is 700 feet. This is a "show up" hike, so no need to make reservations. Just meet at the Santa Cruz County Government Center, 701 Ocean St., Santa Cruz, to carpool to Wilder. 9am.
