Wilderness Patrol Volunteer Training at Rancho del Oso

Date:

Tue, 03/15/2016 (All day)

Starting in April, Big Basin Redwoods State Park is offering Wilderness Patrol volunteer training. That's right--if you're looking for a volunteer gig, you could be on Wilderness Patrol. Ultra cool. Wilderness volunteers hike and bike into the park's backcountry to monitor trails and assist visitors. Along with covering trail, volunteers learn the park's natural and cultural history. According to program coordinator Jeremy Lin, volunteers will become "eyes and ears of the park." Read Santa Cruz Sentinel's article about the program here.

Rancho del Oso. Located off the 1 Highway, 17 miles north of Santa Cruz. To apply, contact Jeremy Lin at (831) 427-2288 or rdopis@parks.ca.gov. Applications due March 15th.
