Wildflowers in winter might sound like a fairy tale. But no matter the season, there's always something to see in Santa Cruz County. Take a lovely drive up the coast to join Rancho del Oso's experienced naturalist and docent Scott Peden on this mellow 4-mile wildflower walk, where you can observe our autumnal and wintery blossoms. Show up energized and stoked for hiking, and bring water and lunch. Photographers are more than welcome.
Rancho del Oso Nature and History Center, 3600 Highway 1 (17 miles north of Santa Cruz). Meet at the Rancho del Oso gate across from Waddell Beach. 10am. Free.
