The beloved Capitola surf contest is closed to more contestants, but that doesn't mean you can't come out on cheer on your favorite lady surfers this Saturday. Surfers in no fewer than 10 categories, from Menehune (12 and under) to Legends (60 and over), will strut their stuff in a different kind of surf event. For one thing, this one benefits WomenCARE and Monarch Services, which offer support for women with cancer and women who've suffered from domestic violence or sexual abuse. Learn more at the Women on Waves website. They'll be raffling off seven surfboards, so bring cash for raffle tickets!
