Unfortunately, the popularity of Panther Beach often leaves its mark in the form of trash scattered across the pristine sand. Enhance your outdoor karma by cleaning up Panther Beach with Save Our Shores on XStream Cleanup Day, which targets challenging areas with intense waste levels.
Tips for volunteers: the name isn't "Xstream" for nothing! Wear some sturdy footwear, as the walk down to Panther Beach is trickier than it appears. Also, wear old clothes you don't mind trashing (get it?). Also, be sure to bring a full reusable water bottle, sunglasses and a hat to protect you from the morning sun. Save Our Shores also asks that you bring your own gloves and buckets to avoid creating additional trash from the event.
The beach will be cleaned rain or shine, so dress accordingly! Cleaning up litter is especially crucial in the rain, because rain often washes trash directly into the ocean.
Ocean creatures, future beachgoers and unpolluted nature thank YOU!
Panther Beach, 8 miles north of Santa Cruz on Highway 1. 9am - 11am. Free.
