Why did the fungi leave the party? There wasn't mushroom!
Ah, mushroom humor. If you like that joke, you'll love the fungus funnies inspired at Santa Cruz's annual Fungus Fair. The Fungus Fair features hundreds of local mushroom species, complete with cooking demonstrations, talks by fungus specialists, and a Kids' Room with hands-on activities. Wild mushrooms are sold so you can take a taste of the fair home with you. Whether it's a pizza topping or a anti-cholesterol medicine, fungi have a special, figurative place in all of our hearts. Join us at the Fungus Fair and maybe meet a fungi!
Tonight, Henry Young talks mushroom toxicity, Phil Carpenter leads a class on Intro to Mushroom Identification and Daniel Winkler presents "Mushroaming in the Amazon." The after-hours mushroom dinner happens tonight as well ($90); learn more here.
301 Center St, Louden Nelson Community Center. 3:15-6:30pm. $5.
